Casey Newton, Kevin Roose, and William Nutt

Leaving the Times gave me chills. It revealed a perfect opportunity to support your goals of empowerment and expanded formats through an initiative I already had cooking.

I’d been reimagining AI training. Conventional AI education is either too abstract or too focused on specific implementations. So I designed a model that’s dynamic and enduring as AI quickly evolves. It’s based on proven applications of AI at my one-human shop and with my clients of all sizes. And the throughline is my “Golden Rules of AI”:

1. Focus on fundamentals.
Implementations go stale. Fundamentals are versatile and enduring.
2. AI is an intern.
It’s full of potential but needs meticulous nurturing.
3. Prompt methodically.
Provide clear objectives, specifications, plentiful context, and constraints.
4. Reverse roles.
Let AI prompt you (and itself).
5. Use AI reflexively.
For every task, ask: How can AI assist me?
6. Stay DRY.
Create reusable projects, skills, and plugins.
7. Orchestrate a model council.
Their collective intelligence multiplies accuracy and usefulness.
8. Peek under the hood.
Learn the basics of AI training and probabilistic vs. deterministic computing.

This could be the foundation of a rich AI Lab within your new company that empowers, engages, and grows your audience.

You cover the latest tools and trends in AI. I make them actionable.

Ciao!
I’m William Nutt.

William Nutt

Ciao! I’m William Nutt.

An ’09 graduate of UNC, I worked at a series of agencies in DC and New York before launching my own consultancy, Nutt Labs, in 2016.

When Notion stole my heart in 2019, I created Notion VIP, which grew to 50k+ engaged subscribers, including over 1,000 paid members. That growth came from my educational content, freemium tools, and above all, my Bulletproof methodology, a widely used framework for Notion workspaces. I also created Notion’s initial Consultant Certification and trained new members of its support team. Ivan Zhao says “no one teaches it better.”

That success led to more consulting work than I could handle; hence my recent hiatus from publishing.

But I’ve been eager to resume content production and revive my communities, with a focus on AI. AI Orchestration was going to be the mechanism for that, but your new company is a much more fitting home.

When you get 30 minutes, I’d love to explore how I can help you launch with extra horsepower.
